A warm welcome to the website of David Pilgrim ROI. The site has been created by David to provide an overview of his work and an insight into his art practice.
David is a British painter with a passion for painting ‘en plein air’ which also compliments and informs his studio practice. Working on location, he strives to capture the very essence of that moment and create a personal response to the subject with energy and economy.
David has exhibited widely across the UK and is a full member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. An award winning artist, David has a particular affinity with the sea which provides a constant source of inspiration. Travels have also taken him further afield to places such as Italy, Spain and Portugal along with many other locations within the UK. He is happy to consider commissions and many of the works shown on the site gallery are available for purchase.

A sunlit cove, windswept estuary or light spilling across open fields in the late evening sun. These are the kinds of subjects that provide constant inspiration in my work. From majestic vistas to more intimate scenes, I aim to observe and capture these moments with integrity and economy.
Many years spent painting plein air have allowed me to to develop ways to respond directly to subjects and capture their essence. The same approach extends into my studio practice where themes can be further developed.
If I can convey the experience of ‘being there’ then I feel I have successfully acheived what I set out to do.
