I’m really looking forward to teaching at two upcoming oil painting workshops with the Yardley Arts Centre in South Northamptonshire. It is a wonderful location with a fantastically light and airy studio to work in.

May 24th – Capturing trees in oils

Explore trees as a subject with oil paints to achieve lively results that capture the ‘essence’ of trees within the landscape.

The workshop is based in our beautiful large studio space. The teaching style is strongly aligned with plein air painting processes where a faster and more intuitive approach is often needed. Working from carefully selected photographs based on trees within rural settings, we’ll be exploring some of the main factors to consider when handling trees and the important decisions to bear in mind in order to capture the character of trees with oils.

June 3rd – Coastal inspiration with oils

Dive into the colours, energy and atmosphere of the coast using an ‘alla prima’ approach with oils to achieve lively paintings that aim to capture the feeling of the sea and coastal subjects. The workshop will take place in the beautiful large studio space.  Working from carefully selected photographs to serve as inspiring subject matter, we’ll explore some of the main factors to consider when developing a coastal painting and the important decisions to bear in mind throughout the process.

Both workshops will take place in the studio at the wonderful arts centre in Yardley Hastings, South Northamptonshire. There are currently a few places still available if you would like to come and join me for an enjoyable day of oil painting.
