I’m very happy to share that I will be leading three workshops in June with the Cornwall School of Art (based near Truro).
June 15th – Capturing the Coast in oils
Learn how to paint fresh and lively coastal paintings using a ‘one wet’ approach (alla prima) to painting in oils. This workshop is studio based and is strongly aligned with plein air painting processes where a direct and more intuitive approach is often needed
June 16th – Oil painting on location
Learn how to paint directly from the subject and achieve fresh, lively results using a ‘one wet’ approach (alla prima) painting in oils. In the first instance (weather permitting) the aim will be to paint en plein air in the surrounding grounds (options to paint directly from subjects back in the studio if the weather proves challenging).
June 17th – Getting to grips with gouache
Learn how to paint with gouache and achieve fresh, lively results aimed at capturing the essence of the subject. The workshop is studio based and the emphasis will be on how you can simplify a subject, avoiding unnecessary detail and work with gouache in a more confident and decisive manner.
There are currently still some places available if you would like join me for an enjoyable day of painting at a fabulous art school in Cornwall.
