Associate Membership of the ROI

I was delighted to be told that I've been elected as an Associate member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI). Standards are very high so it's a real honour to be elected. I'm really looking forward to being a part of the society!

Recently returned from a few days painting with friends in Venice. It's an incredible place and I hope to return for more easel action soon! More details and pictures are featured on the blog.

Delighted to have the maximum of four paintings accepted into this year's annual exhibition with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. The show opens on December 6th at the Mall Galleries in London.

David can be seen on the front cover of 'The Artist' magazine (September 2011 edition). The picture is taken from the painting trip to Cornwall in May and shows David painting on the beach. Roy Connelly has written an article in the magazine on behalf of the Plein Air Brotherhood. David is a member of the group and they have a show coming up in Harpenden at the A&K Wilson gallery (opens September 1st)

ROI exhbition at Gallery Le Fort

David will be showing alongside other ROI members at the Gallery LeFort in Bath from August 13th to September 17th. The preview is being held from 6-8:30pm on August 13th. It promises to be a stunning show at a beautiful gallery.

Work showing at 'Not the Royal Academy'

Two of David's oil paintings are being shown at the 'Not the Royal Academy' exhibition. The show is on at the Llewellyn Alexander gallery in London (near Waterloo station) and runs from 7th June - 20th August.

David has submitted three paintings for a group exhibition with the ROI at the Hawker Gallery in Amersham. The show runs from May 21st - June 11th. Well worth a visit!

Upcoming exhibitions

David will have a number of paintings on show with the Bath Gallery at the Octagon in Bath from April 29th - May 10th. The show is called 'Inspired' and features a number of artists from the Bath Prize 2010 where David won prizes for 'Best plein air painting' and 'Best small painting'

ROI paint evening prize

David was delighted to be awarded the prize for 'Best painting by a non-member' at the ROI paint evening (December 16th). It was a great evening with the chance to talk to fellow artists and observe their different approaches to painting from the live models. A posting on the blog with the winning painting will appear shortly.
